to P h!li'psburg Mail - Thursday, June LS, 2017 i ii~ ii '~ ~i~i!~ ~= iiiii! ~ Flowers decorate the streets Clockwise from top fight: Tobin Heser hangs one of many flower baskets on the street lights in Philipsburg this Monday. The flowers came in two horse trailers full of the large arrange- ments, which were promptly hung around town. Ron Beck was among the volunteers who worked to hang the baskets throughout town. The flags and flower baskets are sponsored by the Flag and Flower Committee, which holds fundraisers to purchase new flags in addition to the flower baskets which make their Philipsburg debut at the start of every summer. The baskets and flags can cost thousands of dollars, though many flags were donated this year by the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Maxville. Max Stadler and Heser arrange the basket on its post.
